What Do You Need Right Now?

We spend a lot of time talking about what support looks like.

Grants.
Vouchers.
Practical help.

And while those things matter, they are only part of the picture.

We always ask the simplest question:

What do you need right now?

At the Mark Hewitson Foundation, our aim has always been to provide immediate support when it is needed most.

But we know that need is not the same for everyone.

And it does not always look the way people expect.

For some people, support might be:

Help with food or energy
A contribution towards essential costs
Support during a sudden change in circumstances

For others, it might be:

Understanding what help is available
Knowing where to turn
Feeling less alone in what they are facing

And sometimes, it is something harder to define.

A bit of breathing space
A reduction in pressure
A sense that someone has listened

We see a lot through applications.

But we also know that not everyone applies.

Not everyone reaches out.

Not everyone feels able to ask.

So this is us asking more openly.

What would help you right now?

Not in theory.
Not in general.

Right now.

What would make things feel even slightly easier?

And what do you wish support looked like?

There are no right or wrong answers.

And there is no expectation attached to this.

This is about listening.

Because if we want to support people properly, we need to understand what is actually needed.

Not just what we think might help.

You do not have to have everything figured out.

Sometimes, it starts with a question.
