The Mark Hewitson Foundation was born from love, loss, and the belief that even in the darkest moments, kindness can change everything.
Mark passed away on 13 December 2019.
The world felt like it stopped, and it did stop for a long time — but slowly, from that heartbreak, something new began to grow.
This Foundation exists because of him.
Because his life mattered.
Because his love still does.

What We Do
We provide small grants, practical support, and a listening ear to people and communities in need — moments of immediate help when life becomes too heavy to carry alone.
Our support is simple, human, and rooted in compassion:
– 🛍 Supermarket gift cards for food, clothing and essentials
– 💬 One-to-one guidance and signposting to support services
– 💛 Practical help with forms, applications and accessing funding
– 💻 Support to overcome barriers to education and employment
– 🌸 Emotional support and a safe space to be heard
We don’t have complicated rules or endless hoops to jump through.
Just care, understanding, and action when it matters most.

The Lives We’ve Touched
Since launching, we’ve already given out over **£5,000 in support**, directly helping people in crisis to get through the hardest days.
We’ve helped people to:
– Step into work after long-term unemployment by providing interview coaching clothing, bus fares and guidance
– Navigate stressful workplace disputes, offering calm support and signposting to fair advice
– Access hardship funds and benefits they were eligible for but didn’t know how to claim
– Cover funeral costs when grief was heavy and money was gone
– Provide food, clothing and utility top-ups to families in sudden crisis
– Attend medical and counselling appointments when travel costs were a barrier
– Support young people with transport to school and work placements so they didn’t have to give up
– Offer a warm listening ear and emotional support when someone just needed to feel seen
These aren’t just services.
They are moments of hope — tiny ripples of kindness in honour of Mark.
